On April 4, 2020, at approx. 1945 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to the area of Avenida Juarez and McCallum Way regarding multiple gunshots heard in the area. A short period of time later, officers were dispatched to a second call in the area – a traffic collision involving a vehicle that ran off of the roadway and collided with a tree in the area of McCallum Way and Avenida Alvera. At the traffic collision scene, officers discovered a male inside of the vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Identification of Homicide Suspect / #2003C-5346
On March 23, 2020, at approximately 1844 hours, CCPD received 911 calls reporting gunfire heard in the Panorama residential neighborhood of Cathedral City. Police were dispatched and arrived at a residence in the 29000 block of Avenida La Vista at 1850 hours. Inside the home, officers located at least one adult male and one juvenile gunshot victim that required medical care. Cathedral City Police paramedics arrived to treat the gunshot victims and handled the medical transport of the juvenile to a Regional Trauma Center.

Inside the home, Police located at least one adult male and one juvenile gunshot victim that required medical care. On March 10, 2020, at approximately 0715 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received 911 telephone calls reporting a deceased adult male inside a parked vehicle. Cathedral City Police responded to the area (arriving at 0717 hours) and found an adult male inside a vehicle parked in the 68300 Block of McCallum Way, with an unknown number of gunshot wounds to his body. Cathedral City Fire Department Paramedics responded to assist, unfortunately, the victim had succumbed to his injuries, prior to the arrival of police and fire. The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending family notification(s) and pending the investigation by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

CCPD officers responded to the scene – a residential home also an “Airbnb” short-term, rental location – and detained an unidentified adult male.

On 12-23-19, Cathedral City Police Officers responded to Stater Bros in Cathedral City (located at 69255 Ramon Rd.) in reference to a video camera found in their public bathroom. CCPD officers along with Stater Bros. Corporate Security were able to determine that a small, covert camera had been placed inside the bathroom, for the purpose of illegal video monitoring / surveillance. (It is a state crime to record or place a recording device in a public bathroom.)

On 12-16-19 at about 0230 hrs., an unidentified male adult entered the AM/PM convenience store at 68500 Ramon Rd, brandished a pistol at the clerk and demanded the clerk open a locked refrigeration display case. The suspect then took a bottle of beer from the case and fled on foot. Officers responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation which included viewing the store surveillance video. The suspect was ID-ed by investigating officers and witnesses and arrest information was distributed to local law enforcement agencies.
