On June 2, 2023, at about 0630 hours, Cathedral City Police Department received a tip reference a juvenile making threats to shoot students at Cathedral City High School. Cathedral City Police School Resource Officer and Detectives investigated the information and were able to locate and arrest the juvenile for making terrorist threats against the school. No weapons were located nor involved in the threats, and no specific students were directly named or threatened in this case.

Arrest of Outstanding Kidnapping Suspect / 2106C-0059
On March 24, 2023, at approximately 0900 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received a tip from a citizen reference a suspect who had failed to appear in court for his recent court case. The suspect was identified as Eduardo Luis Espinoza, a 33-year-old Cathedral City resident. Espinoza had been arrest in connection with a robbery/kidnapping from June of 2021. Espinoza failed to appear in court on Tuesday for the kidnapping case and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest.

Cathedral City Police Officers responded to the scene and discovered a single Dodge Charger had driven off the roadway and rolled over.

On September 3, 2021, at approximately 3:03 a.m. the pedestrian from the traffic collision died at Desert Regional Medical Center from his injuries. The pedestrian from the collision was identified as Jose Elias Campuzano, a 44-year-old resident of Cathedral City, CA. On September 3, 2021, Antonio Leon-Sanchez turned himself into Cathedral City Police Officers without incident. Leon-Sanchez admitted to being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the collision. Leon-Sanchez cooperated fully with the investigation.

On September 2, 2021, at 8:07 p.m., CCPD Officers and CCFD Firefighters were dispatched to an injury collision involving a truck and a pedestrian on Ramon Road, just east of Landau Blvd. CCPD and CCFD responded immediately and arrived on scene moments later. Upon the arrival of CCPD and CCFD, an unconscious male was located in the westbound lanes of Ramon Road. The male had serious injuries to his head and body. He was immediately transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment by CCFD. The male was identified as a 44-year-old Cathedral City resident. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family. The male at the time of this press release is in critical condition at Desert Regional Medical Center.

On February 11, 2021, at approximately 0710 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received 911 telephone calls reporting gunfire heard in the area of 67800 block of Carroll Drive. Police were dispatched and arrived within minutes of the initial call. Police located evidence of a shooting and a 38-year-old male suffering from two gunshot wounds. The male was transported by Cathedral City Fire Department to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.

On February 4, 2021 at 1:10 p.m., CCPD Officers and CCFD Firefighters were dispatched to a collision into a residence in the 32500 block of Monte Vista Road. Numerous callers also reported the vehicle was on fire and the driver was trapped inside. CCPD and CCFD responded immediately and arrived on scene moments later. Upon the arrival of CCPD and CCFD, there was an active fire in the garage and on the truck, which crashed through a garage door and into a residence. CCFD acted immediately by suppressing the fire and rescuing the trapped driver. CCPD shut down the intersection and evacuated the attached and nearby residences.
