On Wednesday 03/28/2018 at approximately 2145 hours, officers were dispatched to the 31000 block of Whispering Palms Trail reference a gun shot victim. CCFD arrived on scene and transported the victim who later succumbed to his injuries. CCPD Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Detectives canvassed the area, processed the crime scene, and worked numerous leads. Video surveillance from the surrounding area showed the suspect vehicle pulled up to the victim’s home, the passenger door opened, and the suspect exited the vehicle and walked towards the victim. The suspect is later seen running away from the residence towards the awaiting suspect vehicle that was parked at the intersection. The suspect vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. The case remained active as no arrests were made.

On Tuesday, June 06, 2023, at 0125 hours, Cathedral City Police officers were dispatched to a possible traffic collision involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian near the intersection of Vista Chino Drive and Avenida Quintana. Upon arrival, it appeared a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle traveling in the eastbound lanes of Vista Chino Drive, east of Avenida Quintana. The pedestrian, a 74-year-old male from Cathedral City CA, was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

4, 2023, at approximately 1528 hours, a customer inside of the Dollar Tree was confronted by a Hispanic male who brandished a firearm. The customer/victim lunged for the firearm, and a fight ensued. Two females with the suspect began to fight with the victim as well, in order to assist the suspect. After fighting over the gun for approximately 2 to 3 mins, the suspects and victim reached a stalemate and agreed to stop fighting. The victim attempted to shake the suspect’s hand, but the suspect retrieved the gun out of his pants and attempted to shoot the victim at point-blank range. The gun did not function and the magazine fell from the gun preventing the firearm from discharging. The victim and the suspect began to fight for the magazine. During the fight, the suspect pistol-whipped the victim in the head. The victim ran from the store, and the suspect chases after the victim, firing six rounds at the victim, striking him several times. Detectives identified all three suspects and issued a search warrant on one suspect’s residence. The suspect was not at the residence, but evidence related to the crime was located and collected.

On June 2, 2023, at about 0630 hours, Cathedral City Police Department received a tip reference a juvenile making threats to shoot students at Cathedral City High School. Cathedral City Police School Resource Officer and Detectives investigated the information and were able to locate and arrest the juvenile for making terrorist threats against the school. No weapons were located nor involved in the threats, and no specific students were directly named or threatened in this case.

On May 23, 2023, at about 0920 hours, the Cathedral City Police Department was called with an UPDATE on a previously reported Missing Person. Palm Springs Police Department contacted Cathedral City Police Department and reported they LOCATED Richard Stanley Emmons in the city of Palm Springs. Richard was in good health and returned to his residence.

On May 22, 2023 at about 2037 hours, the Cathedral City Police Department was called to the residence regarding a missing elder adult. The roommate reported Richard missing to the police after he had not returned home for several hours. The roommate last saw him at the residence on the morning of May 22, 2023 at about 1030 hours. Richard has left the residence in the past but returns after a few hours. He does not have a cellular phone or means of communicating with friends.

On May 14, 2023, at approximately 0607 hours, Cathedral City Fire responded to a call of a male on the ground with head injuries. When Cathedral City Fire arrived, the male was in full arrest, and Paramedics noticed injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Cathedral City Police responded and, upon arriving, found evidence of a hit-and-run traffic crash. Paramedics could not revive the male, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

On Sunday, April 30th, 2023, at approximately 1635 hours, a Sunline bus was traveling from Palm Desert to Palms Springs. While traveling, the driver noticed a young male passenger smoking something near the rear of the bus. The driver announced over the pa system for the male to stop, but the male refused. At the next scheduled stop in Cathedral City (B Street transfer area), the driver requested the assistance of another driver to help with having the male exit the bus.
