On June 1, 2021, at approximately 0924 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received a 911 call from an adult male who claimed to have been beaten, zip tied and held against his will for days. The victim was able to give officers information that led them to the 37000 block of Bankside Drive where evidence was located that cooperated his claim. Additional information was gathered identifying two suspects involved who were later arrested without incident.

Press Release 2105-3871
On May 16, 2021, at approximately 1816 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received 911 telephone calls reporting a male intruder entered the residence and threatened the elderly occupants to leave his residence. As the occupants tried to defuse the situation the male intruder became agitated and made threats against their lives. The 85-year-old homeowner retrieved a firearm and defended himself by discharging the firearm, striking the male intruder in the upper body.

On 4/19/21 at 0143 hours, CCPD Officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle collision at E. Palm Canyon and Date Palm Drive. Upon arrival officers discovered a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta collided into the southeast traffic signal pole, causing significant damage to the vehicle. CCFD Paramedics were dispatched to the collision and transported the male driver who was ejected from the vehicle to Desert Regional Hospital.

Officers were given information on two suspects that were seen by witnesses fleeing the scene. Officers were able to locate both suspects (an adult and juvenile) a short distance from the park and detained them without incident. Both were transported to the Cathedral City Police Department and subsequently arrested. The adult was later transported to the Riverside County Jail in Indio and the juvenile was transported to Riverside County Juvenile Hall.

On March 26, 2021, at approximately 1849 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received 911 telephone calls reporting gunfire heard at The Ocotillo Park, located at 33300 Moreno Road, Cathedral City. Police were dispatched and arrived on scene where they located two victims, an adult female and a male juvenile with gunshot wounds that required medical care. Cathedral City Police Paramedics arrived to treat the gunshot victims and handled the medical transport.

Over the last nine days, CCPD Detectives have worked tirelessly to identify and locate those responsible for the senseless shooting death of a father of four with strong local community ties, who was not involved in criminal activity and died in his long-time place of business. This criminal investigation included a collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, local businesses and critical involvement and cooperation from the local community. This enabled CCPD detectives to identify the shooter in the homicide and the driver of the vehicle used to flee the area.
