Cathedral City Police Department Press Release

Armed Robbery Investigation / #2101C-4249

On January 16, 2021, at approximately 1930 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received a 911 telephone call reporting an assault and robbery of a male subject in the area of Ave La Paz/ Vista Chino Rd. The male victim was located, who reported being assaulted and robbed by two Hispanic Adult Males. The victim indicated one of the assailants was armed with a handgun. During the assault the male victim was robbed of his wallet. The suspects(s) were seen fleeing in a gray/white 4-door sedan. The robbery was documented by patrol and forwarded to CCPD Detective Bureau for follow-up. Continue reading

Community Update

Between October 2019 and November 2020, the Police Department’s Communication Center handled 809 calls for service related to Short-Term Vacation Rentals. In reviewing the calls for service by both the Police and Fire Departments, the average time an officer spent on each call for service to an STVR was 21 minutes and 46 seconds. The average time our Fire personnel spent on each call for service was 37 minutes and 46 seconds. Continue reading

Cathedral City Police Department and Councilmember Rita Lamb Hand-out Holiday Gift Bags to Seniors

On the morning of Christmas Eve, five teams made up of the Cathedral City Police Department, Councilmember Rita Lamb, and several volunteers converged at the Cathedral Palms Senior Apartments in Cathedral City to hand-out Holiday Gift Bags.  Additionally, the team of police officers went door-to-door providing fresh, hot breakfast burritos courtesy of El Portal Mexican Restaurant in Cathedral City. Cathedral City Police Department Press Release

Fatal Traffic Collision / Case # 2012C-2636

On December 9, 2020, at approximately 2104 hours, Cathedral City Police officers were dispatched to the area of Ramon Road and Avenida Alvera regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male lying in the street with major injuries. The Cathedral City Fire Department responded, and the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. At this time, his identity will not be released, pending the Riverside County Coroner’s Office investigation. The driver of the vehicle involved was cooperative and remained at the scene during the investigation. Continue reading

Shooting Investigation / #2012C-0465

On December 2, 2020, at approximately 1320 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received 911 telephone calls reporting gunfire heard in the area of Ramon Rd/ Landau Blvd. Police were dispatched and arrived within minutes of the initial call. Police located evidence of a shooting between at least two adult males along the north side of the Ramon Rd. at Avenida La Paloma. Continue reading

Homicide Investigation #2011C-6493

On November 23, 2020, at approximately 1851 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to the 68800 blk of Ramon Road regarding an assault victim. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male on the sidewalk with major injuries. The Cathedral City Fire Department responded to the scene and provided life saving measures. The male was transported to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the male is being withheld at this time. Continue reading
