Homicide Investigation / #2008C-1558
On August 6, 2020, at approximately 2129 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to Century Park (located at 30555 Davall Drive in Cathedral City) regarding a physical altercation with subjects fleeing the area. Upon arrival, officers located an unidentified male victim with life-threatening injuries. CCPD officers immediately started CPR and life-saving efforts until Cathedral City Fire Department Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. Unfortunately, life-saving efforts were unsuccessful - the unidentified male succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Robbery Investigation – Four juvenile suspects arrested / #2008C-8601
On August 31, 2020, at approx. 1400 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to the 31700 block of Date Palm regarding four masked suspects that entered the business and forcefully took display cases with numerous cellular phones attached. Store employees were scared and made no attempt to stop the suspects as they fled the store with merchandise. The suspects ran to a blue newer Mustang with no vehicle license plates that was awaiting near a business. Press Release CR #2008C-2348
On August 9, 2020, at approximately 2119 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to the area of 68500 McCallum Road regarding numerous reports of shots being fired in the area. One witness informed CCPD that the suspect was firing a shotgun over residential rooftops. Officers arrived on scene and through witness accounts and their initial investigation, discovered the gunfire came from a residence in the 68500 block of McCallum Road. Officers surrounded the residence and made numerous loudspeaker announcements requesting the suspect exit the residence. The suspect refused to exit the residence and barricaded inside. The death of Mr. George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Officers is shocking, disturbing, and of great concern to all of us in Law Enforcement. Local emergency proclaimed, countywide curfew set for tonight
The County of Riverside proclaimed a local emergency and set a countywide curfew tonight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The order was signed today by County Executive Officer and Director of Emergency Services George Johnson, in coordination with law enforcement officials, and applies to all cities and unincorporated areas.
