ABC Decoy Operation Press Release
The Cathedral City Police Department Special Operation Section along with Agents of the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) have arrested three individuals for selling alcohol to a minor on November 20, 2019. The actions were the result of a minor decoy operation in which minors under the direct supervision of department agents, attempted to purchase alcohol from several retail licensees in the City of Cathedral City. At approximately 1500 hrs., a Cathedral City Police officer saw a vehicle occupied by a wanted felon in the area of Ramon Rd and Gene Autry Trail. (The wanted felon was the driver of the vehicle; he was considered a parolee at large and wanted as a suspect in at least two other felony incidents in Cathedral City. He was wanted for his involvement in an assault with a firearm and a separate incident last night in which he was driving a stolen vehicle and led officers on a vehicle pursuit.) The officer attempted a traffic stop but the driver failed to yield, which led to a vehicle pursuit, northbound on Gene Autry Trail. At the intersection of Artisan Way, in the City of Pam Springs, the driver failed to yield for traffic at a red signal light and collided with at least two other motorists in the intersection. Press Release – Nov 1 Collisions
On Nov 1, 2019 at approximately 0552 hrs., Cathedral City Police (CCPD) and the Cathedral City Fire Dept. responded to the area of 30th / Landau for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision. Officers discovered a 65-year old male suffering from injuries. The male pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk when he was struck by a vehicle that left the roadway. The driver of the vehicle returned to the roadway and drove away without stopping. The male pedestrian suffered major injuries to his lower legs and was treated at the scene by Cathedral City Fire Paramedics and transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. Homicide Investigation / #1910C-0971
On October 4, 2019, at approximately 2315 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received multiple 911 telephone calls reporting gunshots in the 32500 Block of Navajo Trail, Cathedral City. More calls to the police were received at 2316 reporting a shooting incident at that location. Cathedral City Police responded to the area (arriving at 2320 hours) and found two adult males on a residential sidewalk, suffering from an unknown number of gunshot wounds. Cathedral City Fire Department Paramedics responded to assist, began emergency-medical treatment and transported both shooting victims to Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC). Unfortunately, one of the victims has succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and has been pronounced deceased. That victim has been positively identified as Jaime Antonio Monjaraz, 23, of Desert Hot Springs, CA. Continue reading→

A Palm Desert man was convicted of murder today in the 2016 traffic-related death of Caryn Clemente, 50, of Palm Springs. The trial (which took place at the Riverside County Courthouse / Banning Justice Center, Banning CA) stems from a high-speed collision that occurred on February 24, 2016 in Cathedral City. On September 25, 2019, at approximately 0034 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received multiple 911 telephone calls reporting gunshots in the 30900 Block of San Gabriel Circle, Cathedral City. Cathedral City Police responded to the area (arriving at 0036 hours) and found an adult male suffering from an unknown number of gunshots to his body. Cathedral City Fire Department Paramedics responded to assist, began emergency-medical treatment and transported the victim to Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC). Arrest of Homicide suspect from CCPD case 8-19-19
On August 19, 2019 at approximately 0052 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received 911 calls, regarding a disturbance in the area of the 68300 Block of Madrid Road. Cathedral City Police officers responded to the area (arriving at 0101 hrs.) and found an adult male (later identified as Alberto Alvarez) on the street/sidewalk area suffering from an undetermined number of gunshots to his body. CCPD officers started immediate life-saving efforts until Cathedral City Fire Paramedics responded to transported him to Desert Regional Medical Center for emergency medical care. Continue reading→
Press Release – PACT 1908P-4107
On August 22, 2019, at approximately 0701 HRS., Officers and Investigators from the Coachella Valley Post-Release Accountability Compliance Team (PACT) were attempting a warrant service at a location known as the Marquis Villas Resort, in the City of Palm Springs. While officers were attempting entry into the hotel room, a fleeing occupant fired a round from a shotgun, while inside of one of the rooms. Officers secured all occupants of the residence and found no one injured. After completing their investigation, they were able to determine the person with the shotgun, discharged a round accidentally, into the wall of the interior of a bedroom, almost striking another occupant in another room.
