United States Postal Inspectors served an arrest warrant at 69831 Sunny Lane. They were assisted by the Cathedral City Police Department in the service of the warrant. The above listed subject is suspected of assaulting a US Postal worker and stealing a package from the worker, which occurred in the City of Desert Hot Springs. During the warrant service at 0630 hours today, evidence of a marijuana honey-oil extraction-lab was located inside the residence. This included clandestine lab equipment and marijuana plants. Finished product was located inside the residence, along with several weapons, State of California non-compliant, high-capacity magazines and a large amount of ammunition. Victorero was renting the residence along with his girlfriend (unidentified) who was not arrested. Vitorero was taken into custody for the arrest warrant and charged with 18 U.S. Code 111. Other Federal Law Enforcement Agencies responded to the scene to participate in and complete the illegal lab operation investigation, which is continuing at this time. Continue reading→
Fatal Traffic Accident / Case #1812C-3270
On Saturday 12/15/18 at 1746 hours, Cathedral City Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Perez Rd. regarding a traffic collision. Officers arrived and determined that a traffic collision involving an SUV and a male on a motorcycle had just occurred, approximately 100 feet west of the intersection. Officers determined the motorcyclist was traveling west on East Palm Canyon Dr. He had just passed through the intersection on Perez Rd. when he collided with a motorist merging from the parking lot of 7-11 (located at 67990 East Palm Canyon Dr.) into the roadway. Press Release Case #1812C-2433
On Tuesday, December 11th 2018, A Cathedral City Police detective was traveling in the area of the 32500 Blk. of Shifting Sands Trail in Cathedral City. He observed a female adult run to the front door area of a residence where packages had just been delivered. The female grabbed two boxes from the front door and ran to an awaiting vehicle. The female entered the vehicle and the driver fled from the scene. The suspects apparently did not know their crime was witnessed by a police detective and the detective directed uniformed police officers to the vehicle, which was stopped by patrol officers. Patrol officers watched as the female passenger tried to discard narcotics out of the window of the car, again thinking she would not be seen. Both the driver and the female theft suspect were identified by the police detective and both were placed under arrest. The stolen packages were located inside the vehicle and the ownership of the packages was confirmed; the packages were returned to the owner/victim. Continue reading→
Gun Buyback 2018
The Cathedral City Police Department has organized a “Gun Buyback Program” for December 2018. The Cathedral City Gun Buyback Program will reward the voluntary surrender of firearms, while engaging our community towards a common goal of reducing gun violence. On Friday October 28th, 1988, Police Officer David Vasquez was struck and killed by a vehicle at the Intersection of 35th and Date Palm Drive while assisting at the scene of a traffic collision. Press Release-Fatal Traffic Collision – 1811C-5599
On Monday 11/26/18 at 7:02 P.M., Cathedral City Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ramon Rd. and Crossley Rd. regarding a traffic collision. Officers arrived and determined a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a minivan had just occurred. Upon preliminary investigation, officers leaned that Palm Springs Fire Department and AMR paramedics were dispatched to a collision at the Ramon Rd. and Crossley Rd. intersection. CCPD officers determined the collision had occurred in the westbound lanes of Ramon Rd., approximately 300 feet east of the intersection, within the jurisdiction of Cathedral City. The injured pedestrian had already been transported to Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC) for emergency medical treatment while CCPD officers remained on scene and conducted a traffic accident investigation. On November 21st, 2018 at 3:38 a.m., an officer was on patrol in the area of Avenida La Paloma and Ramon Rd. The officer observed two vehicles in the middle of the roadway with no headlights activated and noticed people exiting and entering the vehicles. The vehicles drove away and the officer conducting a traffic stop on both vehicles. As the officer approached the vehicles, one of them drove away at a high rate of speed, and a short vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect vehicle traveled west on Ramon Rd., into the City of Palm Springs. Continue reading→
