DUI/DRIVER LICENSE CHECKPOINT
On September 4th, 2021, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. the Cathedral City Police Department conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint at Date Palm Driver south of 30th Avenue.
During the course of the checkpoint, 732 vehicles passed through the location, 9 citations were issued, and one driver was arrested for driving under the influence.
Citations are broken down as follows:
7 drivers cited for not having a license.
1 driver cited for driving on a suspended license.
1 driver cited for possession of an open alcoholic beverage.
1 driver cited for driving under the influence.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
Funding for this checkpoint is provided to Cathedral City Police Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
