Synopsis of Incident
On Sunday 9/16/18 at 1700 hours, Cathedral City Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Gerald Ford Drive regarding a traffic collision. Officers arrived and determined that a traffic collision involving a small sedan and a commercial, flatbed-type tow-truck had just occurred. Upon preliminary investigation, officers determined the sedan was traveling northbound approaching the Gerald Ford intersection and struck the rear of the tow truck. Cathedral City Fire Department paramedics arrived to assist other injured parties involved in the collision. At this time, one fatality has been reported from this collision. The exact details and cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Police activity in the area will continue through the evening and possibly into early Monday morning as a traffic accident investigation is being completed by the Cathedral City Police Department. At this time, Date Palm Drive is closed between Gerald Ford Drive and Perez Road.
